Here are some known compatibility issues regarding Aggression version 1.09u2

These issues are extremely rare and currently effect less than 2% or our customers. Nonetheless, if you come across any of these problems, please contact BLiT Games at support@blitgames.com. Many of our most difficult bugs were solved because customers contacted us with new information leading us to the cause.

You can also check the FAQ and Requests in the submenu for less serious issues.

URGENT! When I go to CONVERT or DOWNLOAD in Internet Explorer, my browser tried to download an asp file!
  • This occurs because your browser thinks asp is associated with an application. To fix this problem, pull up ANY folder on your desktop. In that window's menu choose Tools->"Folder Options". Click on the "File Types" Tab. Scroll down the list of "Extensions" on the left until you see "ASP". Hilight that line and click on Delete.

  • When I click on the prc file to install to my palm, my Install program says the file does not exist! Is the zip file corrupted?
  • To date, this phenomenon has always been caused by some situation in which the person is not *really* unzipping the file... By this we mean that you can double click on a zip file and launch winzip (or if it's integrated, just go into the file like a folder), and you can then see all the files within it and double click on them. However, these files are actually in a temp directory, and the Palm Installer can't find them. The solution is to explicitly pick a location on your hard drive, unzip the files to that spot, then go into that folder on your hard drive to install the prcs.
Alternatively, you could use our new installer version of Aggression (if you run Windows), or failing that, contact us and we will upload the file you need.

  • When I enter my 10-digit code in the registration screen, it tells me the code is invalid!
  • First, make sure that you are entering your REGISTRATION NAME in the first field and NOT your hotsyncID - for most people their registration name is different than their hotsyncID. Assuming that's not the issue, 99% of the time the cause is an unexpected character in your hotsyncID. You need to download and install this tiny utility. When you run it, it will scan every character of your hotsyncID and count them - if you see any characters different from the hotsyncID you gave when you purchased the game, just email us the actual code and we'll send you a new 10-digit code to match your corrected hotsyncID.

  • I tried to hotsync my Palm with two different computers and the hotsync froze!
  • There is a bug in later versions of Palm's Desktop software involving the use of a single Palm syncing with more tan one computer. When syncing to the second computer, the desktop software alters the Aggression files in a way that they cannot be reinstalled on the Palm, and then hangs trying. After working for 6 months unsuccessfully to find a fix, we are now working directly with Palm on the issue. If you use Aggression on a Palm that you hotsync with more than one computer, you must install and play it from a memory card. If you do this, you will have no problems. To get out of your current hotsync problem, perform a CLEAN INSTALL on BOTH of your computers - that is, delete all the Aggression files from your Palm AND from both PCs BEFORE reinstalling Aggression.

  • Current Compatibility with the TapWave Zodiac.
  • We are working on Zodiac compatibility for the next major release of Aggression. However, we are also working on some stop gap ways to run the current version of Aggression on a Zodiac without waiting for official support. For the latest information about running Aggression on a Zodiac, go here.

When updating Aggression, the Palm freezes up during the Hotsync or freezes during the first attempt to play.
  • Follow the CLEAN INSTALL procedure and try again.

  • While playing Aggression, the game crashed or had a crash when I exited.
  • Check out this procedure for contacting tech suport.

  • When exiting Aggression and resuming a game, the game is not saved.
  • If you find your game is not saved, makes sure the following run time files are NOT on your card: AggressionLog.PDB, AGSN-SavedGame.PDB, AGSN-Prefs.PDB If you see them there, delete them. They should reside OK in your RAM, but SOME card loaders will copy card files into your memory, overwriting your new saved game with the old saved game.

  • HELP! My menu button or launcher button doesn't work!
  • If something like this happens, there are some built in safeguards in Aggression. You can always get to the menu from the game screen by tapping the top of the screen. You can also exit Aggression by tapping the lower right corner of the screen. Additionally, hitting the back button or record button will exit Aggression. Please immediately contact BLiT support if you find you can't use any buttons on your device.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONTACTING BLiT TECH SUPPORT
    ========================================================
What to do if you are using Aggression and your Palm freezes up or has a fatal exception.
  • If the Palm has simply frozen, make sure it is REALLY locked up by tapping on the screen and trying to exit via the launcher of back button.
  • If the Palm is truly locked up, take a paper clip and poke the reset hold in the back of the Palm. Your Palm and even your game of Aggression will be fine..

  • Then, Please help us by doing the following:
  • Note what you were doing right before the crash occurred.
  • Before playing a new game of Aggression, perform a hotsync.
  • On your PC, find your device's backup directory. Your device will have a root directory, e.g., c:/Program Files/Clie. Under this will be a subdirectory with the same name as your HotsyncID, and under this will be a subdirectory called "Backup".
  • Locate in this folder two files: "AGSN-SavedGame.PDB" and "AggressionLog.PDB". If you attach these two (small) files to your email to tech support, we have much better odds of tracking down your problem.
  • Email the nice folks at support@blitgames.com and we'll do everything we can to assist you.

  • What is the procedure to do a "clean install"?
When you upgrade from a previous version of Aggression, this is the best way to prevent any problems. It is also the only way to get out of a situation in which your hotsync is hanging. The reason is that even though you are deleting Aggression, the Palm desktop software will still try to reinstall the bad file FIRST before seeing that the file is deleted from your Palm.

  • On your PC, find your device's backup directory. Your device will have a root directory, e.g., c:/Program Files/Clie or c:/Palm. Under this will be a subdirectory with the same name as your HotsyncID, and under this will be a subdirectory called "Backup".
    For example, c:/Palm/*MyHotsyncID*/Backup/
  • If you don't find the Aggression files, you should search on your hard drive for files Aggression*.* and AGSN*.*
  • You need to delete these files from your PC's hard drive:
    Aggression.prc,
    AggressionLog.PDB,
    AGSN-SavedGame.PDB,
    AGSN-Prefs.PDB.
  • On your actual Palm, also delete Aggression, and perform a SOFT reset (hit the hole in the back) to make sure Aggression is gone.
  • Now, and ONLY NOW, do a hotsync using the official desktop software (not third party installers). This fully "cleans" your device of the old version of Aggression.
  • Now install the new Aggression 1.09 file and do your hotsync to install it.
